Where are we, what are we, and how will we get there? No idea. And so begins another recess into the realms of the writer.
No updates for a while, for varying inclandestine reasoning. (IE, been a drugged up hippy thanks to hay fever, the usual Prozac and now an added doze of thatwhich, if you are in the dark, you reallly don't want to Wiki to find out more about!) Oh, and my life is usually rather dull. Haven't even been at the pub with the Saturday lot much lately.
So whats been happening, besides the unfortunates? Commissioning! No sooner had I received a reminder from Bob Furnell of Jigsaw Publications that part four of my article series (I'll chuck in a link to the site shortly) is due at the start of next month, when the same man asked me to produce a short story for his newest endeavour, a fanfic based anthology of short stories involving Doctor Who, specifically with the online TDWP project in mind.
No sooner had this occurred, then I got a rejection for "How to Be Dead". Shame, I actually quite liked that, so following Sawyer's very own tips it was minor jigged about, and resent to another market. Do it straight away, lest the pangs of pessimism bite! But as I was doing this, I noted an article on Duotrope, asking for anyone who has lots of poetry (enough for a book) to send this e-book publisher them.
Now, I have a lot of poetry, most of it written up in dull English Lit or History classes. And most of it is rubbish, although Al did like the classic* "Daddy Kicked Doggy Into the Fire". But anyhow, some lovely publisher asked for and since received 300 of my poems. Be careful what you wish for!
And just last Saturday I was cornered down a dark segment of a popular West End pub by scary clandestine Glasgow writers, by name of Phil and Neil, who reminded me that Word Dogs is a mere 47 days away! Hmm.
What is Farrago's Wainscott? Sorry, put that there as a reminder to myself.
Oh, and "Come out and Play" is up for possible acceptance by a Canadian children's magazine.
and TBD want more from me.
None of this pays of course. But it seems to be getting everywhere.
And I still have to crit some of Mark and Jim (Steele)'s stuff like I promised. Scatterbrained.
